Practical Test
The Practical Test's purpose is to find out whether you can drive safely on the roads without supervision.
When you have passed your Theory Test you will be able to book your Practical Test. Your driving instructor will let you know when you should book your test. Don't be tempted to book your test too early, because if you take and fail the test this will waste your money. You can cancel your test without losing any money by giving 3 full working days notice.
The Practical Test takes about 40 minutes and will commence from your local driving test centre. The Test routes are designed to incorporate a range of road and traffic conditions that would typically be encountered.
A 'Show and Tell' element is now incorporated within the Practical Test. This is designed to show that you are able of undertaking routine maintenance checks. The questions will require you to explain where and how to check the tyres, brakes, lights, indicators, the horn, water and oil levels.
