Up to three months before your 17th birthday you can apply for your first provisional driving licence. To obtain a provisional driving licence you will need to complete two application forms from the Post Office, a form D1 and a form D750 (the new photolicence application).

You will need to be in possession of your provisional driving licence before you can take any driving lessons, although you will be able to book your lessons at any time.
